OPTI Canada Long Lake Upgrader Project

This $20 million Mission Critical Building is the Control Centre for the $3 billion Long Lake Oil Plant Upgrader Project located outside Fort McMurray, Alberta. The administration building, completed in September 2005, is a two-storey structure that uses a central axis to connect a variety of functions within the building. Each function can be directly accessed from this central spine, which provides a physical link between each group. The central corridor presents the opportunity to bring light into the centre of the building, through the addition of a skylight, and create an inviting internal atmosphere for those who work in this remote location. The building provides 5,886 m². of space, with the potential for future expansion.
