Airdrie Public Library

The Airdrie Public Library is located in an existing strip shopping centre and is approximately 10,500 square feet. The new space occupies an area, which spans two distinctly different types of spaces. The majority of the space occupies a former retail drug store space and the remainder occupies a former medical office space. The design called for the main library space to be located in the former high ceiling drug store space and the administration / meeting spaces are to be located in the lower ceiling former office space, to maintain the 'openness' of the main library space.
