St. Albert Fire and Emergency Medical Services Headquarters and Fire Station No. 3
St. Albert, Alberta, LEED® Gold Candidate

This $13.1M combined Fire Department Headquarters and Fire Station No. 3 is under construction and will house Fire and EMS services for the city of St. Albert. The Fire Department Headquarters will include administration offices, communications centre, as well as training and emergency operations while the St. Albert Fire Station No. 3 will include four double bays, operations and support spaces, 12 sleeping rooms and a hose-training tower. The project is striving to attain LEED® Gold by completion of construction / commissioning. Several energy efficient concepts have been incorporated into the building's design including an improved building envelope, energy efficient mechanical equipment, and lighting fixtures which will save more than 30% annually in energy costs. Plumbing fixtures such as sensor operated low-flow lavatory faucets, low-flow vacuum boosted shower heads, dual flush toilets etc. will save nearly 50% more water than many buildings today. Xeriscape landscaping strategies will utilize native plant species capable of growing without the need for irrigation and will also save thousands of liters of water per year.
