Yorkton's existing swimming pool and the adjoining Agriplex Building were deteriorating as their 25th anniversary approached. SAHURI + Partners Architecture Inc. were retained to study their condition and to recommend revitalizations that would give the greatest relevance to the community. After input from many community groups and users, the public and staff, we proposed a public needs survey. This survey revealed the wishes of Yorkton and area people, giving a perspective in ‘best community value’ to the revitalization program. With a new leisure pool, revitalized lane pool, fitness and physio, an indoor soccer flexihall, youth, seniors and children’s centre, curling, a major arena, as well as banquet room, kitchen and multi-purpose space and a future library, it brings new life and a family leisure centre to Yorkton.
