Projects: Commercial & Industrial
50th Parallel Estate Winery
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia
This striking and modern winery is located along the breathtaking "Scenic Sip" region of Lake Country in the Okanagan Valley, close to golf resorts, spas, and the Kelowna International Airport. With unmatched geography, the gently southwest sloping, 62-acre scenic vineyard site enjoys long days boosted by a beautiful lake view setting.
The design objective of this project was to marry a wine production building, wine tasting building, and wine caves into the architectural complex as one simple yet iconic concept that adheres to the already present language of the land. Embracing a 'less is more' philosophy, the structure is sleek and unassuming, and blends in well with its surroundings. The classically elegant interior features 20 foot ceilings and all-glass facades to take full advantage of the spectacular landscape views. The world class winery incrementally opens itself into the rustic and welcoming tasting and function rooms, which in turn lead to the retail component, a glass cube sheltered by the continuing cantilevered roof line.
SAHURI was the original design architect on the first phase described above, and is now engaged as architect for phase two design, expanding the event space, completed in 2018.
