Agolli Residence Posthill Drive Lot 9B & 10B
We are proud to have contributed our architectural expertise to these projects, in association with BA Capital as the developer/builder and Blerti Kroi, a talented architect and designer from Albania. These two neighbouring homes are characterized by unique and sustainable features. Lot 9B will be completed in summer 2016 and 10B’s completion is aimed for summer 2017.
This secluded neighbourhood enforces environmental requirements to maintain the existing trees and vegetation in the area. The design team created a footprint within the allowed development area, while accommodating all of the amenities requested by the owner. The main challenge of these projects is the irregularly formed sites on which they are built. The sites are heavily wooded, angular in shape, with steep slopes.
We turned these challenges into strengths to drive the striking exterior design. The homes have a sense of privacy, and the unique backyard and strong forest views are celebrated. Long exterior decks accentuate the angularity of the lots. The houses open up to nature both literally and figuratively. In addition to large glazed areas that allow for natural light and views, movable glass walls create an indoor/outdoor space that expands the living area onto the deck. Stone and wood textures provide a warmth to both the interior and exterior design.
At 5,091 sf. (473m2
) and 5,381 sf. (500m2
) respectively, Posthill Drive Lots 9B and 10B are designed to provide functional space with exceptional flow. Interior corridors all terminate with a dynamic feature or view. The Entry Level in both homes includes open living, dining, and kitchen areas that engage with the exterior.
Lot 9B includes an office and a library with an ensuite bathroom for guests. Plans for Lot 10B include a guest suite on the entry level floor. Each home has an elevator for accessibility. The Upper Levels hold a Master Suite with generous walk-in closets and a spa-inspired ensuite, two additional bedrooms with a shared bathroom, and a bonus room that overlooks the living space below. On the Lower Level, both homes feature a stunning spa/exercise room with exterior patio and plunge pool, a multi-purpose entertaining area, a self-contained Nanny Suite, utility space, and access to the garage. Interiors, including a 'living wall', will be completed by the owners in conjunction with the design team. The projects also include heated driveways to ensure that access to the properties is both safe and manageable during Calgary's winter season.
