Hanna Seniors Lodge
Hanna, Alberta
Located just west of the Hanna Golf Course, the Hanna Seniors' Lodge is run by the Acadia Foundation, an organization that provides affordable lodge accommodation in Cereal, Consort, Oyen, and Hanna for senior citizens who are functionally independent. Acadia housing is specifically designed for older adults by being more compact with easier navigation, and providing outside maintenance assistance.
The 65,358 sf. Lodge in Hanna is a three-story, 60-unit wooden frame building with a single story common area and two residential wings that offer separate and autonomous accommodations. The $14 million Lodge includes single and double occupancy suites, lounges, tub rooms, exercise rooms, communal storage, and two elevators.
The new building provides residents and staff with multiple amenities such as a large dining room with fireplace, crafts room, beauty salon, chapel, games room, family dining room for private resident functions, on-site homecare, a commercial kitchen, and laundry facilities.
Onsite provisions for scooter storage and resident parking are incorporated into a fully landscaped site, complemented with a full-circle walking path. Construction was completed in 2011 after two phases, allowing phase I to be occupied by residents during the construction of phase II.
