Projects: Seniors Living
Oyen Seniors Lodge
Oyen, Alberta
This project involved the revitalization of an outdated and undersized Seniors' Lodge in Oyen, Alberta. The renewed facility now consists of a new three-story building, with two elevators, for single and double occupancy resident units, and a modernized and renovated one-story common amenities building.
The 58,000 sf. project features 42 living units with provisions for a future 15-unit addition as funding becomes available. The new structure, which is fully barrier-free and accessible for all abilities, is also connected to an eight-unit self-contained wing which incorporates the proven 'Aging in Place' design approach which aims to meet the changing needs of seniors while encouraging ongoing independence.
The facility regeneration has provided residents and staff with new amenities such as modern sized 404 sf. single suites and 550 sf. doubles, lounges, tub rooms, games areas, a large TV lounge with fireplace, resident laundry facilities and commercial laundry facilities for staff, an exercise room, a large dining room for residents and guests, a family dining room for private resident functions, a commercial kitchen, crafts room, hair salon, chapel, and communal storage rooms.
On-site provisions for scooter storage and resident parking are also incorporated into the fully landscaped site which is complemented with a full-circle concrete walking path. All renovations and additions were completed for $9.64 million in the fall of 2010 with minimal disruption to residents and staff.
