Westside Regional Recreation Centre

Sporting a wide array of options for everyone from beginners to committed athletes, Westside Regional Recreation Centre is the place to play in southwest Calgary and has been one of the City's most admired recreation centres since opening in 2002.
The facilities, activities, programs, and services focus on health, wellness, and quality of life for all ages and abilities in the Calgary community. This Centre is unique in that it is 100% community-funded, with no government subsidies, and is actually one of the few recreation centres of its kind in North America that makes a steady profit.
SAHURI designed the original 171,996 sf. complex at $23 million, and was later commissioned to design the exciting $29 million, 65,000 sf. LEED
® Silver Certified expansion in 2010. Internally, the full-service, interactive complex focuses particularly on youth wellness and physical fitness. It houses an incredible range of activities, such as the largest indoor leisure ice facility in North America, an athletics arena with fitness facilities and running track, aquatic centre, climbing wall, meeting rooms, party rooms, and childcare areas.
The new addition also features a lap pool, two new gyms, a youth/wellness centre, cycle studio, and multipurpose rooms. This multi-component fitness centre provides an open, spacious atmosphere with plenty of natural light. Space has also been designated for onsite lease tenants including a sports medicine/physiotherapy clinic, coffee shop, pro-shop, pre-school, and a before-and-after-school care facility.
