Tyrrell Field Station Visitor Centre

Dinosaur Provincial Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, stands as a testament to the beauty of our landscape, featuring stunning badlands and rich fossil beds. The Alberta government embraced environmental responsibility in the creation of the Tyrrell Field Station Visitor Centre, transforming a parking lot into a vibrant forecourt adorned with native gardens, which enhances the site’s perviousness and effectively manages flash floods. This remarkable project sourced 60% of its materials regionally, integrated recycled and renewable content, and achieved an impressive 95% waste diversion rate by directing demolition materials to local high school programs. On October 4, 2007, the centre proudly received LEED Gold Certification from the Canada Green Building Council, marking a significant milestone in sustainable architecture.
